Release Notes - MIKE OPERATIONS 2026

Release date

January 2026

Welcome

Welcome to MIKE OPERATIONS 2026.0

In this Release Note, you will find information about new features of MIKE OPERATIONS and what you need to know to install and get started with Release 2026.0.

MIKE OPERATIONS is a software product designed for data management and model-based forecast services for online operational control of river systems, water collection systems and water distribution systems. MIKE OPERATIONS empowers you to build real-time systems by offering flexible tools that help you deal with complexities such as acquiring and combining online data sources in preparation for real-time modelling.

MIKE OPERATIONS is a product consolidation of software tools developed and applied in projects since 2012. Hence, although MIKE OPERATIONS is a relatively new member of the MIKE product family it builds on proven software products that already serve many customers worldwide.

License Management improvements

The license management has been improved for Jobs. Once configured, Jobs do not check for license anymore, allowing a more robust deployment of real time systems. This stops jobs from failing when the connection to the license server is lost. A license is still required to work with Jobs in MIKE Workbench (i.e. create, edit, view, delete). When a Job runs a MIKE model, a license check will still be made for the corresponding engine.

Web APIs

WebAPIs are now available to access a MIKE OPERATIONS system from the web. It is possible to read / write data and run jobs. Those Web APIs can be installed locally, using IIS.

The installer is available by contacting DHI.

MIKE OPERATIONS Web

The Places Management is becoming the central place to store feature / time series connections. Those places are now used both by MO Web and MIKE Workench.

A tool was developed to convert old MIKE OPERATIONS Web setups, stored in Spreadsheet, to places.

The workflow was further simplified by developing another tool that creates places based on a feature class and a time series group.

Additionally, MIKE OPERATIONS Web has improved the workflow to configure Places using the Run automatic setup tool in the configuration tab. The configuration is now based on model objects, are showns in MIKE Workbench, and not based on underlying feature classes.

Finally, MIKE OPERATIONS Web allows users to configure Places even for systems where no model exists. It can thus be used as a simple data viewer for clients not having a license for Scenario Manager.

Database usage

The Database usage wizzard was improved to be able to pin-point to big datasets. A new combo-box filters Managers to show the corresponding size in the database. This includes the corresponing blob storage entries. Then an Analyse button allows the user to investigate the data in a Tree view, that matches the Manager Explorers and groups. In this new view, it is also possible to filter and identify the top 10 biggest dataset. This was implemented for Spreadsheet, Time series and Scenario Managers.

Additionally, a new "Export to csv" button now allows for further analyse the data in Excel.

MIKE+

This release is the fisrt step in an complete overhall of forecasting system configuration workflow.

The import of MIKE+ models, configuration of scenarios, post-processing and publishing on the Web was simplified.

  • Model objects were renamed to align with MIKE+ terminolgoy (122985)
  • Automatic MIKE+ model import and configuation
    • including import of MIKE1D cs scripts)
    • new GeoTIFF Output model object (122991)
    • new flood extent model object (123063)
  • Automatic configuration of scenario standard scenario:
    • Set Auto-approve to True
    • Set Enable initial condition to True
    • Set Initial conditions to hot / latest
    • Handle 2D initial condition in local Folder
    • Set simulation time
    • Create, add and map ensemble input time series
    • Create, add and map 2D outputs
    • Output time series configured using places (select closest output
  • Automatic configuration of "no Data Assimilation" scenario
  • Automatic configuration of Post-processing tasks
    • Ability to specify a list of post-processing tools and scripts, automatically ran after the engine execution complition
    • Upload to MIKE CLoud for MO Web visualition (Tilesservice)
    • Create flood extent polygon
    • Create GeoTIFF outputs images for web visualisation

Web APIs

Web APIs are now available as Linux based docker container accessible from MIKE Cloud Azure Container Registry. Additionally, a Terraform script was written to create all required resources on Azure. (Contact DHI for access).

A new end-points was created to start Azure Virtual Machine and the Job Execution one was improved to select the machine on which to run a Job (using Job Hosts configured in the database).
