Welcome

Welcome to MIKE OPERATIONS 2025.2

In this Release Note, you will find information about new features of MIKE OPERATIONS and what you need to know to install and get started with Release 2025.2.

MIKE OPERATIONS is a software product designed for data management and model-based forecast services for online operational control of river systems, water collection systems and water distribution systems. MIKE OPERATIONS empowers you to build real-time systems by offering flexible tools that help you deal with complexities such as acquiring and combining online data sources in preparation for real-time modelling.

MIKE OPERATIONS is a product consolidation of software tools developed and applied in projects since 2012. Hence, although MIKE OPERATIONS is a relatively new member of the MIKE product family it builds on proven software products that already serve many customers worldwide.

Warning

MIKE OPERATIONS Web Classic is deprecated with this version. Users should migrate to the new MIKE OPERATIONS Web product, contact mike@dhigroup.com or your local Customer Care team for more information.

Breaking Changes

Breaking changes are changes made to functionality that requires user action as part of an upgrade to ensure that specific functionality will work after the upgrade.

Warning

Until now, if the Python DLL path was empty, MIKE OPERATIONS would use the Python installation referenced with the environment variable PYTHONPATH.

In this new version, the Python DLL used was changes:
- CPython DLL Path = empty: MO Python is used
- CPython DLL Path = path to a python.dll: another version is used
- CPython DLL Path = PYTHONPATH : Environment Variable is used

New features

Every new release of MIKE OPERATIONS consists of new modules, new features and/or corrections to problems or significant inconsistencies discovered in previous releases.

Please find below, a brief description of the most significant features added since MIKE OPERATIONS 2025.1.

Module Description
Core New provider configuration wizzard (see below)
Core Improved the "Search toolbox" feature
Script Manager New Python packages installation wizzard (see below)
Script Manager Include new libraries with the Python libraries installation option: mikeio1d, modelskill and mikepluspy
Script Manager Improved the formatting of the "Watch details" window for easier debugging
Script Manager Use by default the CPython version installed with MIKE OPERATIONS (see Breaking Changes above)
Scenario Manager Add coordinate system to the database when registering models, if the model was created with a non EPSG one (i.e. MIKE Zero coordinate system)
GIS Manager Prompt for coordinate system when importing dfs2/dfsu, when the file was created with a non EPSG one (i.e. MIKE Zero coordinate system)
GIS Manager New tool to clip time varying rasters. Useful for MIKE SHE models input generation
GIS Manager Improved Raster calculation tool. Useful for MIKE SHE models input generation
Job Manager Add new Job task to run saved tools. This removes the need to wrap tools execution in script when used in Jobs
Timeseries Manager Improved Time Series Import Wizzard (see documentation)
Timeseries Manager Improved Time Series Calculator Wizzard (see documentation)
Timeseries Manager Improved Period statistic tool by supporting Minutes and Seconds

Provider configuration wizzard

A new wizzard was created to help configure Providers accross different Managers. For example, users might define a project folder for which MIKE Workbench should read dfs0 in the Time Series Manager, dfs2 in the Raster Manager and dfsu in the Mesh Manager. This makes it easy to use MIKE Workbench tools on data, without importing it in the database.

This new wizzard can define providers for:

  • Local folders
  • MIKE Cloud
  • Other MIKE OPERATIONS databases (time series only)
  • DIMS.Core databases (time series only)
  • WMS/WFS service
  • GitHub / DevOps (i.e. scripts)

It also supports the creation of Jobs on:

  • Other machines with a MIKE OPERATIONS Job Service
  • MIKE Cloud

For more information, check the documentation

Python packages installation wizzard

When selecting Python Packages in the MIKE OPERATIONS installer, many Python libraries are installed and ready to be used in the Script Manager.

Users did not have a clear understanding of which libraries were available, what versions they were in and how to add more to be used in MIKE Workbench. So a new wizzard was created to show what is installed and make it easier to add/updated libraries.

For more information, check the documentation
