Update a model

In this page, we will describe how to update the version of a model registered in MIKE OPERATIONS. We will take, as an example, a MIKE+ 2024 model that will be updated to MIKE+ 2025.

1. Export your model

When registering a model in MIKE OPERATIONS, it is zipped in the database and can be exported at a later stage.

Right click on on the Model and Open in native model tool. This will unzip the model in a temp folder. This should be copied to a permanent folder (e.g. on the desktop).

2. Open in target version

This model needs to be upgrade to the target version. This is done by opening the model in this newer version of the software.

Typically, a log is created by the modelling sofware when a model is updated. Those logs should be investigated and the issues fixed.

3. Run and save

The model should be run with the newer version to ensure there is no engine issues in the newer version. Newer version can have more quality checks or can trigger new instabilities. A thorough testing is recommanded.

Once all the engine issues are fixed, save and close the model.

5. Register

Once the model is updated, it is time to import it into the updated MIKE OPERATIONS database. The model should be registed normally and at the end, the Use Template Scenario option should be used to apply the scenario configuration to the new model.
