Working with Simulations¶
Import simulation¶
Selecting Import simulation... on a scenario, will import an existing native simulation run, using the configuration of the selected scenario.
This option allows importing existing historical simulation runs.
Importing simulations, requires all files used for the simulation run, this includes the associated model file, also used for model registration.
After selecting Import simulation..., select the model file of the simulation run.
Simulation Start, End, Time of Forecast and Store simulation Content is taken from the scenario, so dates and times should be changed to match the simulation to be imported.
-
Model file - Select the model file associated to the simulation results.
Note that it is expected that result files are placed in the default location specified by the engine.- MIKE21FM (.m21fm)
- MIKE HYDRO Basin (.mhydro)
- MIKE HYDRO River (.mhydro)
- FEFLOW (.fem)
-
Simulation Start - Specify the date and time of the simulation start of the simulation to import.
- Time of Forecast - Specify the date and time of the Time of Forecast.
- Simulation End - Specify the date and time of the simulation end of the simulation to import.
- Store Simulation Content - Select if native simulation results and model file should be zipped into the MIKE OPERATIONS database.
When the simulation has been imported, the simulation will be available as a simulation entry on the scenario.
Run a simulation¶
To carry out a simulation for a certain scenario:
Right-click on a Scenario node and select Run Simulation.
When running a simulation, the scenario definition is used to set up the simulation input and the registered model is executed.
When the simulation is successfully terminated, a new simulation node is created under the parent scenario. The simulation node contains the inputs and outputs of the simulation.
Foreground will run the simulation in process, where Background will run the simulation as a background job.
The name of the simulation will by default be: Simulation of <Name of scenario>
To change the name:
Right click on the node and select Rename.
View a simulation¶
To open a simulation:
Right-click on the simulation, and select Open from the simulation context menu.
A simulation data view, very similar to the scenario data views opens.
Like the scenario data view, it consists of a map view and a model object explorer.
Only variables that have been modified compared to the parent scenario are visible.
Analyze simulation input and output variables¶
To analyze one or more model object input variables, browse to the variables in the simulation object explorer, or perform a search to get a list of the variables.
Select one or more variables.
Note: The toolbox gets populated with the tools that apply to the selected model object variable type (e.g. time series).
Select the appropriate tools to analyze the input variables.
