Registering models

A model group or model subgroup must have a reference to a specific simulation model. This is achieved by registering the model. This model is now basis for the scenario analysis carried out with this particular model, and all variations to model parameters and model input data are easily tracked.

If structural changes are made to a model, e.g. a new reservoir is inserted in the model network. This model must be registered and located in a new group.

Registration of a MIKE Hydro BASIN model

Right click on the Group and select Register Model from the context menu.

A model registration wizard opens, which will guide you through the model registration process.

In the first menu:

Select the model type (i.e. the simulation package) among available model types. Only model types for which an adapter has been developed are listed.

This menu lists three requirements, which have to be fulfilled in order to conduct a successful registration of MIKE BASIN models:

  • All files used in the model must be located in the same folder structure. I.e. the files must be located together with the mdb and the mxd files or below;
  • The model must have a set of result files, i.e. the model must be run once from its UI before registration, and contain a full set of result (i.e. for all objects);
  • Three shape files must be stored in a subfolder called shapes. They are copies of the Nodes, Catchments, and Reaches layers. The shape files are created by exporting the layers and store them in the shapes directory under the following names: DHI_Nodes.shp, DHI_reaches.shp, and DHI_Catchments.shp.

Specify a name of the model and the file paths to the mdb and the mxd files.

The model will be listed in the menu.

Click Prepare for Registration.

Click Finish

Click Next

Select the Model Setup Group (default is the group from which you entered the Wizard).

Chose to create or not create a scenario in connection with the registering.

Specify the name of the scenario.

Give a description of the scenario.

Click Finish

A model and a scenario have now been created under the model group.
